Unable to Make Tryouts: If your player is participating in a tournament and unable to make the scheduled tryout date then every effort should be made to attend the make-up tryout session. Players who are unable to attend the make-up tryouts need to contact the Classic Director, classicdirector@staffordsoccer.com so other arrangements may be explored. Players will not be placed within the Classic Division unless they have been evaluated.
Exceptions: If a player is accepted to the Travel Division but decides not to take advantage of the opportunity, the player is waived from having to attend the Classic Tryouts. In unique circumstances, the Classic Director may choose to accept a qualified coach’s recommendation to have the player waived from having to attend the Classic Tryouts.
Returning Recreation or New Players: New players to SASA or current players in the Recreation Division must attend tryouts.
New Players Accepted: New players accepted to the Classic Division who do not complete registration (payment in full) for the Fall 2010 Season by 2 July may forfeit their reserved slot in the program to a player on the wait list.
Returning Players: Classic players who intend on returning to Classic for the Fall 2010 Seaon are required to tryout. This is enables SASA to assign players based on their current development level to a division best suited for their current skill level. Returning players who are accepted back into the program have the first right of return to their previous team. If the returning player and their coach moves up to the next age group, every effort will be made assign the player to that coach unless otherwise advised. If players would prefer a new coaching experience, then it should be noted when registering for the season (this should not be noted during Tryout Registrations).
Returning Players Accepted: Returning players accepted to the Classic Division who do not complete registration (payment in full) for the Fall 2010 Season by 2 July may forfeit their reserved slot in the program to a player on the wait list and waive their privilege to the "first right of return" to their previous team/coach.
Team Composition: The Classic Division is a competitive development element of the SASA program which assigns players to teams based on skill. Families must have the ability to commute to any Stafford County soccer field for practices and games. Carpooling is encouraged amongst families but this in itself is not sufficient justification for same team assignment. Families with unique commuting or scheduling constraints are encouraged to explore the Recreation Division where teams assignments are largely based on zip code.
Uniforms: All Classic Division players must have a Classic uniform prior to season start, which can be obtained through the main office. The uniform consists of Classic jersies (white/blue) with SASA badge along with blue shorts and socks (white/blue). If transitioning from the Recreation Division, only the Classic jersies need to be purchased.
